As temperatures are slowly rising, daydreams of warm weather, vacation and spring/summer fashion settle in. To whet your appetites, brands have begun releasing their spring/summer 2019 campaigns, taking you away from drizzly days in the city for a brief moment.
We made a list of our favorites. Be inspired.
With glitz and glamour in abundance, Gucci Showtime pays tribute to the vibrant Hollywood Golden Age. Sprinkled with romantic influences, Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele creates a dazzling ode to the celebrity culture and the golden age of Hollywood showbiz. The spectacular images and accompanying video were shot by Glen Luchford and are inspired by iconic Hollywood films from the 40s and 50s, including Cover Girl, An American Paris, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Singin ‘in the Rain. With its distinctive retro style, this collection is characterized by sparkling dresses, garments adorned with feathers, glitter edges and bright colors. Showtime!
Getting away and escaping the confines of everyday reality to an alluring utopia is key in Chloé’s A Warm Soft Parade. Guided by hippie modernism and New Age boho, artistic director Natacha Ramsay-Levi, who lives for a festival frock, was drawn on an exotic voyage to the Mediterranean sun. Shot by Steven Meisel, the imagery evokes a ‘feminine utopia’ that embodies the alternate Chloé lifestyle affected by the environment and the idea of modernity. The Mediterranean sun works perfectly with the retro inspired prints, breezy dresses and statement jewelry. Chloé hit the sweet spot just again.
Designer Brandon Maxwell continues to celebrate his Texas roots with a campaign enriched with traditional pickup trucks, Texas motifs and blooming flowers. Lush jewel tones, 80s inspired silhouettes and feminine details adorn model Emily DiDonato while the films are narrated by Lynn Wyatt, the collection’s ultimate muse. Very well Texan – big, shiny, and, most notably, colorful, Maxwell’s vivid palette of pinks, reds, sunbursts of yellow and gold and greens ranging from seafoam to teal, are an ode to home state Texas. A sense of pep and freshness that is so characteristic of the fashion house.
Inspired by a nomadic spirit representing travelers who transcend space and time, creative director Angela Missoni, creates a mysterious scene enlightened with bursts of sparkly midnight tones. Captured by Harley Weir, the campaign is resplendent in the nocturnal lights of space, as the starts and planets transform into an ethereal background. Skies are as blue as a baroque theatre, with close-up and extended views of galactic, sandy and blazing destinations. Model Gisele Bündchen and singer Tamino Amir Moharam Fouad pose as dreamlike creatures in the painted reflections of stars and astral heavens. Dresses encrusted in ruffles and gossamer knitted mesh or iridescent ensembles in space-dyed lamé drape the body of a dancing Gisele.
A trip through the looking glass into Alice in Wonderland, Mark Badgley and James Mischka approached a milestone of three decades of fashion with a joyous energy. With an abundance of blooms, candy shades, and brocade, the Badgley Mischka’s sweetness creates a beautiful fairy tale of Princess pink and Elsa blue. Belted floral dresses with layers of ruffles, marabou accents on sculpted necklines and shades of lavender and periwinkle combined to create a feast for the eyes.
